Services
The practice is contracted with Harrow Primary Care Trust to supply set services to those people living within our area who are entitled to health services under the NHS. However, there are some services that fall outside the NHS contract and charges are raised for these. Please ask at reception for the list of charges.
Children’s Charter
Much is written in the press about children’s problems including school bullying, family breakdown, social or domestic problems and many other issues and the difficulty they have in getting help. In response to such public concern, we have developed a Children’s Charter so that all patients are aware of the standards that we aspire to.
Practice Aim
This practice aims to provide a holistic care programme for all our patients and to ensure that they are able to access its services regardless of age. For that reason we have chosen to make the following statements.
Optimum Service
We aim to make services for those under 16 available in a way that makes them feel welcome, safe and secure at all times.
Being Seen By A Doctor Or Nurse
Anyone of any age can ask for an appointment to be seen by the doctor or nurse and will be given an appointment by the reception staff; no reason has to be given.
The patient may ask for a parent, carer or friend to accompany them for support. The doctor or nurse may ask for an adult to accompany the patient on return visits.
To Be Taken Seriously
Any child seeking help or advice from doctors and nurses in this practice will be taken seriously. The doctor or nurse will listen to them and discuss any issues that are raised with them.
Respect Privacy
Any consultation will have the same level of privacy and no information will be passed to others without their knowledge, unless there is a risk to the patient or to others.
Involvement In Decisions
Children will be informed and involved to an extent appropriate to their development and understanding. Doctors and nurses will explain the treatment being offered to the child and will listen to and answer any questions.
Teenage Requirements
Teenagers will be recognised as having different needs to those of younger children and adults. Health services will therefore be readily available to meet their particular needs. Family planning advice and guidance is available to them from the nurses.
Confidential help for children is always available from ChildLine, free of charge, by calling 0800 1111.
